Samson Siasia, who led Nigeria's soccer team to the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics last year, will return to the employment of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) soon.
Siasia, a former international striker, guided the Under-23 team to the final of the Olympic football event where they lost to Argentina.
His contract was not renewed by the NFF, but secretary general of the NFF, Ojo-Oba has now disclosed that he was on his way back.
"Siasia re-applied last week just before I left for Rwanda, and we are processing his application," he said.
There have been strident calls for the NFF to recall the Olympic silver medal-winning coach, and Ojo-Oba stated that the NFF would be happy to have him back.
"We want Siasia to come back, but the problem is that his contract with us expired in August, and the onus was on him to re-apply, but he didn't tell us he wanted to extend his contract," he added.
He said the coach did not report to his office when he returned from the Olympic Games, noting that the federation could not act in isolation.
