At least 700,000 passengers have been affected by the pilot's strike since the beginning of December, Spain's largest airline Iberia said Monday.
However, the Spanish Labor Union of Airline Pilots (SEPLA) denied that the strike is underway and instead blamed the delays or cancellation of flights on lack of staff.
Since the beginning of a dispute over the airline's contracts with its pilots over items such as working conditions, around 5,000 Iberia flights have been delayed and over 400 canceled. Iberia has to contract to lease some 100 flights from other companies.
Iberia has brought a lawsuit against the pilots on strike while the SEPLA accused the airline of violating the rules and keeping back fault information.
According to local media, the situation will not be improved in short term as the negotiations have been suspended after the last meeting was held between Iberia's board of directors and the labor union on Dec. 23.
