The impact of design on our daily life and how it influences society is highlighted at this year's Beijing Design Week which takes place across the city from September 28th to October 6th.

Hosted by the Beijing Gehua Creative Center for Cultural Industry, a subsidiary of the state-owned Gehua Group, the event includes products ranging from industrial designs to fine art and even textiles. It also offers tax incentives and an auction.

This year's event has planned a grand opening ceremony at China Millennium Monument presided over by high-level politicians, architects, celebrities and renowned designers.

The Annual Beijing Design Awards are also included, aimed at promoting the best of Chinese design, alongside the Beijing Design Forum featuring leading dignitaries and luminaries.

The Design-Hop program is featured, highlighting innovative projects and diverse design hubs across the city. The Guest City program, which will see Milan taking London's place last year, brings a unique showcase of Italian design to the Chinese capital.

All these activities are arranged to prove that design promotes the sustainable development of the city and pushes the city forward socially, economically and culturally.

First launched in 2009, this will be the first design week after Beijing was named a "City of Design" by UNESCO this June.

Following the roaring success of previous Beijing Design Weeks, China's capital city has grown into a hub of design, creativity and talent, according to earlier reports.
