Top Political Advisor Stresses Eco-civilization
2012-06-21 23:26:43    Xinhua      Web Editor: dingxiaoxiao

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Thursday called on all CPPCC members to realize the importance, urgency and enormity of achieving ecological civilization.

Achieving eco-civilization concerns the vital interests of the people and has thus drawn widespread attention, Jia said at a lecture attended by senior political advisors.

The central government has always attached great importance to the building of an ecological society, and the country has made positive progress in environmental protection in recent years, Jia said.

Jia urged CPPCC members to investigate and study how to accelerate the transformation of the country's economic growth model as well as how to speed up industrial restructuring and adjusting the energy structure.

All CPPCC members should actively offer insights and suggestions on China's social and economic development, Jia said.
