Police are hunting a man suspected of murdering his wife and seven others in a killing spree in northeast China's Jilin province, the provincial public security authorities said Friday.

Jiang Chun, 48, is wanted by the Ministry of Public Security, which is offering 50,000 yuan (8,000 U.S. dollars) for information leading to the man's arrest.

Jiang is suspected of conducting the killing rampage in the town of Fumin, Huinan county, late Monday afternoon. The victims include a local family and a baby barely one year old, according to Jilin provincial public security authorities.

Jilin police said they still have no clues of the suspect's motive but have stepped up search efforts to prevent him from hurting more innocent people.
