CRI Deputy Director-General Hosts Reception for Visiting Pakistani Media Delegating

Deputy Director-General of China Radio International (CRI) Madam Wang Dongmei hosted a dinner reception for the visiting Pakistani delegation in Beijing on Monday evening. Madam Wang, who earlier led a Chinese media delegation to Pakistan speaking, said that Pakistan and China enjoy all weather and time-tested friendship and the leadership of the two countries have decided to celebrate 2011 as the Year of Friendship.

She said that during the year a number of programmes of exchange of media delegations between the two countries have been initiated.

Madam Wang said that China cherished the friendship with Pakistan.

The Media delegation from Pakistan arrived in Beijing on Monday morning to kick off their tour around Chinas famous Yangtze River.

The 12-member delegation comprised of journalists from mainstream media in Pakistan.

The Pakistani journalists' visit is in response to a group of Chinese journalists led by Madam Wang who toured several cities in Pakistan in May this year. The aim of the visit was to show a real Pakistan to the Chinese people in general and the world at large.

Muhammad Iqbal, Director of the External Publicity Wing of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, said the aim of tour was to get an opportunity to see China and learn from the experience of the Chinese people.

The group of 12 journalists will visit several major Chinese cities along the Yangtze River, the third longest river in the world, to witness the traditional Chinese culture and the country's fast economic development.

The activity, initiated by China Radio International, is held to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.

Led by Director Mohammad Iqbal, delegation comprises, (Coordinator):
Adnan Akram (PTV) Mohsin Goraya, Mohammad Ali Balti, (PBC) Riaz Hussain (APP) Humaira Sharif, ( GEO TV) Arshad Waheed, Ayesha Bakhsh, (Daily Mail) Makhdom Babar,( Dawn News) Shoaib Ahmed, (Nawa-e-Waqt) Jamal Nizami and (Nihao-Salam) Muhammad Arif.

The delegation is scheduled to visit Chongqing, Shanghai, Chengdu besides Yangtze river.

The reception was also attended by Press and Culture Attache at Pakistan Embassy Danyal Gilani.
