The Global Broadcasting Media Group (or GMG), established by China Radio International (CRI) based on the concept of modern media operation and management, is a platform for operating and developing a media and cultural industry. It aims to help CRI enlarge its industry scale and advance its industry level, boost its strength, provide more development methods, develop CRI brands and widen its influence.
Based on CRI's profitable resources in the media and cultural field, GMG targets investing in, developing and operating media resource integration and services, which includes omnimedia resources such as radio, television, publishing, internet and new media. The Group's subsidiary companies consist of Guoguang Guangrong (radio service), Guoguang Dongfang (internet and IPTV services), Guoshi Tongxun (mobile TV service), Guoguang Shiji (overseas radio service), Guoguang Ruishi (TV shopping), and Guoguang Gaoke (audio technology service). The brands under the Group include radio services such as Hit FM, Easy FM and CRI NewsRadio and internet services such as CRI Online and CRI Mobile TV - all of which have catered to many audiences.
GMG was jointly established by CRI's wholly-owned Guoguang Media Development Company and Jiarong Investment Company which was initiated by two of CRI's strategic partners - Tongfang Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Newspaper Media Group. Therefore, its shareholders include state-level media organization as well as those with experience in high-tech, media and financial investments.
While CRI received approval from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television to launch the China International Broadcasting Network (or "CIBN"), GMG will undertake CIBN's operational businesses, including the integrated broadcast platform and the program service platform. Following CRI's plan for the communication and development of CIBN, GMG will take into account the multiple factors of policy, industry, market, technology, talent and capital as well as draw on the experiences of successful new media operations from home and abroad, and provide CIBN with powerful support to boost its global communications through innovations in concept, models, services, technologies and management.
The Global Broadcasting Media Group will comply with CRI's task of transforming itself into a modern, comprehensive and new kind of media group, build up a clear, brand-new and pioneering communication concept, take the tenet of operating a state-level and international media group in the manner of marketing and internationalizing, and follow the double mechanisms of public institutions and business enterprises. Based on CRI's current resources, services and brands, as well as abundant capital and advanced capabilities in investment operations and commercial management, GMG will take advantage of the opportunities brought by the new technology revolution, master core technologies and intellectual property rights, and create integrated and all-terminal services and media brands which cover information services in news, business, sports, entertainment and people's livelihoods, so that it can become a large-scale cultural media group based in China but targeting the world.
