China International Broadcasting Network (CIBN), run by the state-owned radio station, China Radio International (CRI), was officially established in Beijing on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, CRI Online reports.

CIBN will be an international media from the Chinese mainland with a global impact, said Ma Weigong, deputy editor-in-chief of CRI.

CIBN would become the first such media in China that features 61 languages with a convergence of radio broadcasts, online broadcasts and network television, according to Ma.

Differing from the traditional single media, CIBN will bring brand new experiences to users, Ma said.

The establishment of CIBN is in line with the development of the media industry and marks a new era in CRI's history, he added.

Founded in 1941, CRI has exerted great influence on promoting understanding and friendship between Chinese people and people from around the world.
