China's former military leader, Chi Haotian, has been honored by the World Harmony Foundation (WHF) with a specially-designed trophy for his contribution to improve a harmonious relationship between China and the world, the China News Service reported.
General Chi Haotian, former Chinese Defense Minister, received the WHF award from Sha Zukang, the U.N. under-secretary for Economic and Social Affairs on Wednesday.
The award was launched by the WHF earlier this year to mark the 65th anniversary of the United Nations. The trophy was designed to be a crystal peace dove, symbolizing the U.N.'s core spirit of "harmony and peace."
The WHF is a non-governmental advocacy group, which brings heads of states, parliamentarians, and mayors with community and business leaders together with students and educators around the globe to build cultures of peace and sustainable environments for present and future generations. |
