Fire Breaks out in NW China Plant, Casualties Unknown

A fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at a plant of a material company in northwest China's Gansu Province, said local police.

A spokesman with the Public Security Bureau of Lanzhou City, the provincial capital, said they received an emergency call at around 6:30 p.m., reporting the fire at an eight-story plant of Fangda Carbon New Material Sci-Tech Co., Ltd in Honggu District of Lanzhou.

Fire engines have rushed to the site, but casualties are not immediately known, he said.
