The 16th World Olympic Collectors' Fair will be held at Beijing's National Stadium, or Bird's Nest, said organizers at a press conference Thursday.
About 200 collectors and dealers worldwide will participate in the fair, bringing Games memorabilia from all over the world. As an important component of the Olympic Games, the collectors' items, including stamps, pictures and souvenirs are a true record of the Olympic Games.
During this fair, a special exhibition will showcase the personal stamp collection of Juan Antonio Samaranch, former International Olympic Committee president and founder of the fair, as commemoration to the man who ushered unparalleled prosperity and professionalism into the Olympic movement. Here's Feng Jianzhong, vice president of the Chinese Olympic Committee, one of the organizers of the fair.
"Though Mr. Samaranch has passed away, his belongings are still here. It's meaningful that we hold such a fair to highlight the Olympic cultural heritage and experience the Olympic spirit two years after the Beijing Olympic Games."
The fair is free to the public and will run from October 14th to the 18th.
