People surfing in any Internet Cafe in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, will have to register their real name with a new second-generation ID card.
The Xiaoxiang Morning Post reported the Changsha police will begin an inspection in all Internet Cafes in the city to examine whether cafe operators employ the real-name registration system with web surfers. The operators who fail to carry out the checks will be punished.
The police campaign will last until the end of March.
Meanwhile, during an inspection at a local Internet cafe on Monday evening, a police inspection team also made the demand to maintain normal operation of its monitoring system. The surfing records have to be preserved for 60 days.
In addition, local Internet cafe is prohibited from installing software that could remove records of Internet surfing. |
