Greenpeace International held an exhibition of ice sculptures in Ditan Park, Beijing on Friday, calling for public attention to global warming, sohu.com reported on Friday.

The 100 ice sculptures were produced from the melt-water from glaciers of the sources of Yangtse Rive, Yellow River and Ganges River which are the main rivers in China and India.

Placing ice sculptures under the sun, organizers wanted the public to see the melting process for themselves, which is similar to the melting of glaciers on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau.

This Friday sees the beginning of the 100-day countdown to the opening ceremony of the United Nations Climate Change Conference which is to be held in Copenhagen.

Greenpeace International, a global environmental protection pioneer, hopes the exhibition in Beijing, together with a similar one in New Delhi, will have positive effect on the outcome of the conference in Copenhagen.
