Many taxies were prevented from working in Wenzhou city in east China's Zhejiang Province during a strike Tuesday morning, local news website 66wz.com reports.
Some of the cars that did work were attacked.
The strike was organized by taxi drivers from east China's Anhui Province who are demanding a rise in taxi fares from the Wenzhou government.
Strike organizers recently distributed leaflets in the airport, bus stations and many other places in Wenzhou, which threatened taxi drivers to suspend working from July 28 to 30.
Police and traffic authorities quickly attended to the situation by summoning eight criminal suspects. Taxi operation in Wenzhou has since returned to normal.
The police hoped drivers can express their requests through legal means, warning that they will crack down on those that insist on breaking the law.
