Cho Hee Wook, representative of Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) from South Korea praised on-going World Cup "Classics" Beijing held at Laoshan Velodrome.
"I have never seen such a good velodrome," said Cho, president of Asian Cycling Confederation. "And I believe Beijing organizers have achieved success, because there are 40 teams taking part in this competition."
Cho also hoped China host more high-level cycling competitions in the future, contributing more to the cycling sport.
When talking about the development of cycling sports in Asia, Cho said:"Compared with a lot of European courtiers, cycling is not so developed in Asia."
Although China, Japan and Korea did invest to cycling, the amount is not enough comparing to some European countries, like France, Spain and Italy, Cho added.
Cho paid much attention to Keirin, which was developed in Japan first. He believed that Japan had the responsibility to popularize Keirin to the whole world. However, the performance of Japanese riders in Keirin is not as well as before. Since Keirin could attract a lot of spectators, UCI is trying to let more people know the event.
Cho felt sorry for his country missing this competition because a top rider got hurt.
