Chinese search engine giant, Baidu, was found guilty of copyright infringement on Nov. 29 by the Haidian District People's Court in Beijing and is ordered to pay out 491,000 yuan (78,560 US dollars).

Youku Tudou, China's leading video streaming website, filed a lawsuit against Baidu for illegally hosting 18 Chinese TV shows that Youku bought exclusive rights to broadcast online.

The decision comes just weeks after it was announced on Nov. 13 that Baidu was being sued by Youku Tudou, along with Chinese online video services Sohu, LeTV, Chinese web service portal Tencent, the Motion Picture Association of America and numerous other media entities both foreign and domestic.

The collective accused Baidu of pirating over 10,000 pieces of copyrighted material and causing over 300 million yuan (about 48 million US dollars) in losses.
