Foxconn Technology Group, which makes iPhones and other gadgets for global technology companies, is removing safety nets that have been preventing workers from committing suicide at its factories.
Company officials told China National Radio of their plans at a swearing-in ceremony held Monday at the group's Taiyuan plant in Shaanxi province.
One official said the safety nets had only been a temporary measure and that staff needed to develop the mental strength to cope with their problems.
The company called on workers to value their lives, love their families and stay healthy.
The 300-square-meter safety nets were erected in Foxconn's plants in May to discourage people from jumping to their deaths following a series of suicides.
Thirteen workers jumped off the buildings in the first five months of 2010 and ten of them died.
