Honda on Wednesday expanded a recall to cover a total of 480 model Accord and Acura cars with potential problems in their driver seat airbag inflators, a distributor of Honda in Hong Kong announced Wednesday.
The recall expansion in Hong Kong came after Honda announced an expanded recall in the United States of certain cars produced in 2001 and 2002.
The recall originally announced in August 2009 in Hong Kong involved certain 2001 Accord and 2002 Acura 3.2TL cars, whereas the expanded recall announced on Wednesday also involved certain 2002 Accord cars and additional 2002 Acura 3.2TL cars.
The expanded recall involved 480 cars sold in Hong Kong, said Reliance Motors, the sole distributor of Honda in Hong Kong.
In a separate development, Crown Motors, a distributor of Toyota in Hong Kong, confirmed on Tuesday that the company was recalling about 270 third-generation Prius sold in Hong Kong.
There have been no complaints of safety problems like those reported in the United States, Crown Motors said.
Clients affected by the recall can have their cars' anti-lock braking system software upgraded for free, which takes about an hour, it said. |
