Director Xue Xiaolu and the cast of the film "Ocean Heaven" attended an exhibition of art by autistic children on Friday in Beijing to mark the third World Autism Awareness Day, Xinhua news agency reports.
"Ocean Heaven" is actor Jet Li's first non-action drama dedicated to informing more people about autistic children and their families.
The movie is about the relationship between a terminally ill man played by Li and his autistic adolescent son played by rising actor Wen Zhang. Actress Kwai Lun-Mei stars in the film as a clown who performs at the aquarium and meets the father and son.
Based on a true story, "Ocean Heaven" is Xue Xiaolu's directorial debut. The director previously wrote the script for Chen Kaige's film "Together".
Christopher Doyle is in charge of "Ocean Heaven's" cinematography, while Hai Chung-Man is the film's art director.
