The sold-out premiere of Meng Jinghui's classic stage drama 'Amber', starring best-actor winner Liu Ye and rising starlet Wang Luodan, officially opened at the Poly Theater on Wednesday.
Wang Luodan from the popular idol TV series takes over for actress Yuan Quan to star as the female lead Xiao You, as actor Liu Ye portrays Gao Yuan.
Following its limited run from March 17 to March 21 in Beijing, the show will travel to other cities like Suzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu and Guangzhou.
'Amber' premiered in Hong Kong in 2005, running until last year with 55 performances. The popular show has toured many other Asian countries and regions ever since.
'Amber' tells a poignant yet sweet love story of Xiao You who loses her fianc¨¦ to an accident and later falls in love with Gao Yuan, a cynical young man who survives on the transplanted heart of Xiao You's deceased fianc¨¦.
Actress Wang Luodan received lots of praise for her stage debut after the successful premiere.
