Hong Kong actress Gigi Lai Chi, 39, is five months pregnant with baby twins after undergoing an embryo implantation.

She is expecting the twins in June or July in Canossa Hospital, Hong Kong, according to domestic media reports.

Gigi Lai married wealthy businessman Ma Ting Keung, 53, last January and has remained out of the showbiz spotlight ever since.

Rumors had circulated that the actress was pregnant in January 2010.

Close sources claimed Lai went to see famous doctor Ho Wing Chiu for embryo implantation in the hope of boosting her chances of conceiving.

Lai's good friend Virgina Lok confirmed that Gigi is pregnant, but said she does not know whether Lai is pregnant with twins.

However, Lai's father may find it difficult to conceal the news. He reportedly confirmed Lai's twin pregnancy with the media, adding that her due date is late June.
