Rising pop singer Li Yuchun, who made her film debut in the new action thriller "Bodyguards and Assassins", has been chosen to sing the movie's theme song, "Fen Mo" ("Dust").
In the music video released on Thursday, Li sits alone in a cinema, watching herself on the silver screen. In the end, her character appears in the theater, suggesting a subtle connection between the film and the audience.
In "Bodyguards and Assassins", Li plays one of the six vigilantes who try to protect revolutionary pioneer Sun Yat-Sen from assassins on an October day in 1905.
The action flick posed a great challenge for Li, according to the champion of the 2005 Super Girl singing competition. She has compared herself to the "Kung Fu Panda" Po. "The workers showed me the training video, and I found myself looking totally like a clumsy bear."
But in the eyes of Peter Chan, the film's producer, Li's action scenes are the "most beautiful in the film."
As for whether she would continue her acting career, Li told reporters, "That's not a decision to make till I watch the finished film."
"Bodyguards and Assassins" is an all-star film directed by Teddy Chan. It also stars Donnie Yen, Leon Lai, Nicholas Tse, Hu Jun and Fan Bingbing and is set for release on December 18.
