New photos from the upcoming Chinese gangster movie "Let the Bullets Fly" have shed light on lead actor Ge You's character as a 1920s hippie and Carina Lau as his fashionable wife.
In the stills, Ge You appears in a typical garment wore by Chinese men in the early 20th century, but his Western-style hat is apparently very trendy for his character's time. Carina Lau is in a flower-patterned stylish tunic and breeches as she appears riding a horse.
The costumes are all hand-made and expensive, China Foto Press cited costume designer William Chang as saying.
In "Let the Bullets Fly", Ge You plays a swindler and one of the 11 major male roles that form what director Jiang Wen calls a Chinese version of "Ocean's Eleven". The film also stars Jiang himself, as well as Chow Yun-Fat, Hu Jun and Chen Kun.
Filming is now underway, with a release date set for next autumn.
