Influential celebrities such as veteran songstress Mao Amin and actresses Ning Jing and Hao Lei are going bare in a photo shoot to endorse this year's Pink Ribbon campaign.
The spread in the October issue of Trend Health magazine features the three beauties baring all in front of the camera, following the example of last year's celebrity trio of Joan Chen, Ma Yili and Ke Lan.
Jointly launched by Trend Health and US cosmetics giant Estee Lauder, the Pink Ribbon campaign marks its 7th year in China. Pink ribbons have become an emblem for raising awareness of breast cancer.
Mao Amin said Joan Chen's soft, powerful and wholesome image from last year's campaign originally inspired her to sign up and do her part.
It takes more than courage to take such revealing but stunning photos. Actress Ning Jing said she thought it was about health and beauty rather than sheer exposure of her body, and that a bright and strong inside has a great impact on women's health.
Ning added that Chinese women are still a bit shy when it comes to talking about breast health, so she hopes participating in the campaign will make more people pay attention to the issue.
Actress Hao Lei was also proud of the shoot, saying it means a lot for her to be able to help many more women become aware of their bodies, health and beauty. She remarked that one has to accept and face breast cancer instead of ignoring or denying the disease.
