Though young and still green, students from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) will offer an impressive visual experience to the audience during the 2009 China International Fashion Week, which opened in Beijing on Tuesday.
Students from CAFA kicked off a graduation exhibition of their fashion designs, entitled "None & More at the Village" in the recreation complex of Sanlitun Village in downtown Beijing.
It's the third such event that CAFA students have held in the same place over the past three years, and this one is part of a special session during the ongoing fashion week.
Ninety original handmade articles from fifteen young artists are on display. Based on the theme of "None & More", implying the infinity of imagination, students were encouraged to use their individual ideas to create their own clothing brands from various elements.
With either progressive designs that challenge the imagination or refined cuts that appeal to more traditional sensibilities, those coutures cater to a completely different taste than the collections of established brands on display during the fashion week.
In addition to the fashion designs for the eye, there is also something for the ear ¨C a live performance from an alternative-electro band, also another part of the indoor fashion show which will run for 12 days until April 6.
The exhibiiton will give the students a chance to develop their careers with all the convenience and benefits from Sanlitun Village, the only integrative recreation complex in Beijing.
"I hope it provides them with the exposure to make a name for themselves and become more popular so that they can start their long and prosperous careers in the fashion industry," said Ms. Vanessa Marescialli, assistant director of marketing for Sanlitun Village.
Not only beneficial to young designers, such exhibitions are also good for the village.
"An exhibition like this benefits us because we get to provide our customers and shoppers with a chance to experience the new emerging trends in fashion from the new elite designers," Ms. Marescialli said.
This event adds yet another dimension to the merging of arts, business and culture already on offer at Sanlitun Village.
