Rock music is not just for adults. Chinese rocker Zheng Jun is adapting a story about a rock dog for film. He says he is doing it for his 10-year-old daughter, hoping to spread the entertainment to other kids too.
Zheng told Sina.com.cn on Wednesday that his studio has begun making an animated film based on his comic book "Tibetan Rockdog", which went on sale in January.
The book depicts the music odyssey of a Tibetan mastiff named "Metal".
"There is actually a simple reason for why I wrote this book," Zheng said, "I found my daughter was attracted to this bed-time story I made up for her, and that inspired me to complete it into a full book."
Making a film also comes naturally for the rocker, motivated by the idea that the story will help more families enjoy their time together.
The singer-songwriter has already finished writing the soundtrack for the upcoming film.
"I hope the 'Rockdog' will become another 'Kung Fu Panda'," Zheng said when asked about his prediction for the box-office performance of his film.
Zheng Jun, 41, debuted in 1994 with the album "Naked". He is best known for such hits as "Back to Lhasa" and "Cinderella", as well as his MTV Video Music Award win in 2002 for his hit "1/3 Dream".
