Vicki Zhao, or Zhao Wei, gained her first experience in front of the camera in 1993 when she was chosen as an extra in 'Hua Hua', a film starring Gong Li. After that, Zhao decided to pursue an acting career.
In the years that followed, Zhao was finally given her first leading role in a series called 'Sisters in Beijing' after playing minor roles in various TV series and films.
