The fervor over the war epic "Red Cliff" is building to a crescendo with director John Woo presenting a sequel to the most bankable Chinese film in history.
"Red Cliff II" opened in Chinese theaters on January 7, 2009, roughly five months after the previous film bagged over 300 million yuan (US$43.97 million) to set a new record for Chinese-language films.
The sequel reprises the Battle of Red Cliffs in 208 A.D., in which thousands of ships were burnt. Movie-goers can expect to see magnificent battle scenes.
