Luoyang government recently held a tourism and trade delegation event in Indonesia. The event was designed to attract investors and drive more visitors to the ancient city of Luoyang in central China's Henan province.

From May 18 to May 24, the Luoyang Tourism and Trade promotional event was held in several major cities in Indonesia including the capital Jakarta, as well as two tourist destinations, Lombok and Bali.

The Luoyang City Photo Exhibition was also held during the event. More than 30 pictures showed the development of Luoyang in terms of politics, culture, the economy and notable moments in the city's recent past.

A tourism official in Bali said local Indonesians have learned more about the culture and history of Luoyang. The city, as the official starting point of the Silk Road, aroused the interest of many Indonesians. City officials on both sides met to talk about opening of a new air charter route between Luoyang and Bali.

Liu Xinhua, Chairman of Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce hoped to introduce Luoyang-made industrial products to Indonesia. "Under the Belt and Road Initiative, more infrastructure construction projects would be carried out by Chinese companies in Indonesia. It could lead to a surge in demand for building materials. We hope to increase cooperation between China and Indonesia." Liu added.
