Sayram Lake Cycling Race ended on June 1 in Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Nearly 200 cyclists attended the race. They overcame difficulties generated from jet lag, strong wind, rain and high altitude, showing sport spirit and professionalism. Callum Gordon from New Zealand won the championship in individual competition.
The race lasted for five days. It was initiated in 2007 and upgraded into a higher level in 2013. The theme of this year's race is 'Amazing Silk Road, Beautiful Chinese Dream-Cycling, Challenging and Happiness'.
Wang Zhijun, senior official of Bortala, says that Bortala now meets the development opportunity brought by the national strategy of ¡®One Belt, One Road¡¯. Bortala has geographic advantages with rich natural, tourism and ecological resources. The prefecture will continue to support the cycling race, providing good environment for it.
