Introduction: Shangqinggong, a well-known Taoist temple, lies on Cuiyun Peak of Mangshan Mountain and is the highest point in the northern suburb of Luoyang. It is said that Taishang Laojun ("The Grand Supreme Elderly Lord") once practiced alchemy here. The temple was built during the reign of Emperor Kaiyuan during the Tang Dynasty on steep mountains surrounded by thick trees that look like green clouds. That is where the name Cuiyun ("green clouds") Peak comes from. The buildings made with black bricks are situated in a tranquil environment. Blessed with beautiful scenery, the temple is an ideal summer resort. Two temples, Yuqinggong and Xiaqinggong, are located south of Shangqinggong and at the foot of Mangshan Mountain, respectively. Xiaqinggong Temple is small but tranquil. In the neighborhood, there are five grave pagodas for Taoist priests.
