500RMB A Day in Sanya

What many people do not know is you don't need to be rich to experience China's most popular beach paradise: Sanya.

Sanya is the number one destination in China for those in search of a beach vacation.  The resort town has something for everyone, and it's a great place to relax and get away from life in the big city.

What many people do not know is you don't need to be rich to experience China's most popular beach paradise.  One can actually enjoy the charms of Sanya for less than 500RMB a day.

I decided I wanted to see what one can do in Sanya in one day on a small budget of just 500RMB.  So off I went.

The cab ride from the airport to Dadonghai is a nice visual introduction to Sanya, especially if you've never been there before.  Sanya is developing just as fast as China's bigger cities and one can see first class hotels currently under construction.

When traveling always plan ahead.  Because Sanya is so popular it is a good idea to make your hotel reservations in advance.  After I learning this hard way I set out upon the streets of Dadonghai in search of a place to spend the night.

After a brief search I got lucky and found an affordable room  with all the amenities and a nice view.  Once I got settled, it was off to the beach.

Although the beach activities were reasonable priced, because of my budget I wasn't able to partake in any of the scuba diving offered by one of the dive shops.

Of all the things I forgot to pack, it was a beach towel.

The beach is a great place to relax and I wanted to do it in style so I decided to get a lounge chair for the day.

The beach weather in Sanya is always nice and refreshing.  There's never really a bad time to go and there's always something to do.

For April the water was a bit cool, but it was still very relaxing.

The fruit is really as good as it looks.  I particularly like the mangosteens which are very popular in Sanya.

After a healthy lunch it was back to the beach for me.  The chair I rented was good for the entire day.

After a long day at the beach it was time to go to back to the hotel, relax, and figure out what I was going to do for dinner.

Even though Sanya is known for its outstanding seafood cuisine, I decided I wanted western food and ordered some pasta for 50RMB.

After a filling dinner it was time to call it night.  I headed back to my hotel in order to get a good night's rest.  I felt lucky to have been able to feel the charms of Sanya and the Dadonghai area for less than 500RMB.
