Four Periods of the Event

1. Launching date: April 12, 2010

2. CRI Online's Chinese-language special web feature "2010 Chinese City RankingsTop Chinese Tourist Cities" was officially launched on April 12, 2010.

The event has also been promoted through reports or links in 10 foreign languages.

3. Preliminary selection period: April 12, 2010 to June 1, City Exhibition Column and public voting area will be launched simultaneously in 10 languages

1) A Chinese special web feature will be launched to give introductions to the 50 cities initially selected.
2) The Chinese version of the public voting area will be launched on June 1.
3) A special web feature and public voting area for the 50 cities will be launched. The event will also be promoted through CRIs foreign-language broadcasting and coverage.

4.  Semi-final selection period: from June 1, 2010 to August 27, the 20 candidate cities will be introduced in 20 languages  

1) A public voting area will be created on June 1 as part of the Chinese special web feature.
20 of the initial 50 cities will be chosen, based on the public vote, and thus move to the final round. The 20 cities selected will receive their own introduction in 20 languages. 
2) A reporting group consisting of resident overseas reporters in Beijing, CRIs reporters and foreign students will visit and report on the 20 cities selected.
3) Besides cyber voting by both Chinese and overseas internet users, the overseas internet users will be invited to send their photos, videos and travelogues from their own tours of China.

5. Special promotion: end of August or early of September

Once 20 candidate cities have emerged, a forum entitled Summit Forum on the Development of Global Tourist Cities will be held and experts from these 20 cities - as well as from the rest of China and the world - will be invited to take part.

6.  Final selection period: from Sept.1, 2010 to Nov.26, 2010

1) The special web feature Chinese City Rankings will be launched in a total of 20 languages, and special public voting areas will be created for the final vote. In conjunction with overseas media outlets, CRI Online will organize the final round of voting, which will see 10 cities finally chosen from the 20 candidate cities.
2) 10 cities will finally be selected as Top Chinese Tourist Cities by an expert panel, based on the number of votes cast by internet users.

6.  Awards ceremony: early Dec., 2010

An official awards ceremony is to be held in early December, 2010 for the top 10 winning cities, during which the theme for the 2011 Chinese City Rankings will be announced. Ten internet users who have participated in the cyber voting will be invited to attend the awards ceremony and visit some of the winning cities.

The second international microfilm ceremony of the China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival was held in Xi'an, the capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, on January 19, 2017. More than 500 cineastes from around the world attended the ceremony.
