In recent years, the Paralympics host city Beijing has taken various measures to support the employment of its disabled citizens.
Figures from the Beijing municipal government show that 80% of the city's disabled job seekers have successfully found their jobs.
Our reporter Xiaoyu has the details.
With about one hundred thousand disabled job seekers in the city, Beijing has taken specific and preferential measures to ensure their employment.
Li Shuhua is head of the Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation.
"Beijing has taken more than ten different measures to improve the employment rate of the disabled. We offer support to those self-employed and we have also helped others get jobs within their communities."
A fund has been set up and this year alone, around one billion yuan, or nearly $150 million US dollars has been collected to assist disabled people find jobs.
The fund, contributed to by government departments and corporations, has been used to establish welfare institutes which are required to employ disabled people.
Ping Yali, China's first paralympic gold medalist, runs four massage salons employing blind people. She says 300 massage shops have been established in Beijing after receiving support from the fund.
"If we obey related laws and regulations and take good care of the disabled, we can get financial support from the fund. You know, the fund is used to benefit many disabled people and my massage shops have been able to receive assistance through the help of this scheme."
Meanwhile, disabled employees are satisfied with their working environment.
Wu Shuanglong is a disabled worker at the Beijing Dongfeng Locomotive and Electric Appliances Factory, a welfare company for the disabled.
"I feel the working environment here is quite good. We are treated equally in terms of salary. For singles like me, we can even live in a dormitory provided by the factory."
Qi Fubin, the head of the factory, revealed that disabled workers comprise nearly three quarters of its 120 employees. He added that their able bodied workers are always ready to help when their disabled colleagues are in trouble.
