The world athletic governing body, IAAF, updated its rankings recently, the Chinese flying man fell five spots to the 9th. Cuban promising star Dayron Robles took the first for reputable performance this season as well as the victory in the Beijing Olympics.

Liu Xiang pulled out of the first round of the men's 110m hurdles at the Beijing Games for the Achilles's tendon injury.

Earlier reports said Liu will miss the matches in the rest of this year and will come back to the tracks in the middle of 2009.
