Chinese burgeoning gymnast Zou Kai has decided to auction one of his three Olympic gold medals and donate the earning for his hometown Sichuan that was ravaged by an 8.0-magnitude earthquake on May 12.

Zou said the auction will be held in early September and is to be conducted by a professional auction company, West China Metropolis Daily reports.

The Sichuan native Zou claimed the titles of men's horizontal bar, free exercise and group competitions at the Beijing Games.

The initiative came out right after the youngster grabbed his third gold in the horizontal bar event, saying it's a return for the good luck brought by his countrymen.
