Coach of the Spanish basketball national team Aito Garcia Reneses resigned to his charge after the team won the silver medal in the Olympic Games of Beijing, Spanish Federation of Basketball said on Tuesday.

According to the Federation, Reneses made valid a clause of his contract which allowed him to leave his charge at the end of the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008.

Reneses resigned on Monday to the Federation, although "he was very happy" with the opportunity it was given to him of coaching the basketball of the country.

"I don't want to train only two months per year, right now I prefer to continue active during all the season," Reneses said.

Reneses took the charge some three months before to replace Pepu Hernandez, who was dismissed at the beginning of June.

Before being the national coach, Reneses had reached an agreement to coach the team of Unicaja of Malaga.

Spain won the silver medal at the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 after it lost the final 118-107 against the United States.
