Turning to the Beijing Olympic Games, China's world number one women paddler Zhang Yining has won the title in the Olympic singles table tennis competition.
The defending champion maintained her gold by beating her teammate Wang Nan 4-1 in an all-Chinese final.
"I feel it's quite difficult to keep the title. It needs lots of hard work off the stage."
The 27-year-old native Beijinger was quite excited when playing in front of all her fellowmen, including her parents.
"This is the first time that my parents have come to watch me play. I was so excited and happy when I saw them. I felt at ease as if I was playing at home."
Zhang Yining has grabbed two golds in the Beijing Olympics, as she also won in the team event days ago.
China made it a clean sweep in the competition as World No. 2 Guo Yue defeated Li Jia Wei of Singapore to win the bronze.
