Chinese rower Zhang Liang has been disqualified from all Olympic rowing events after missing the men's single sculls qualifying round, Hunan-based Sanxiang City Express reports.

Forgetful Zhang was scheduled to take part in a Group II match on Saturday afternoon, but he wrongly thought he was in Group III and failed to reach the start line on time. Zhang suffered immediate disqualification for the single's event

Even more disappointing was that due to International Rowing Federation (FISA) rules which state that a player will be disqualified from all events in a tournament after missing only one, his qualification in the double's competition was also called off.

Zhang said he paid too much attention to studying tactics, and confused the times of the matches.
