The Olympic torch relay in north China's industrial city of Tangshan kicked off Thursday morning in drizzle.

Qian Hong, the Women's 100m Butterfly champion at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, ran the first segment of the run that stretched 10.1 kilometers.

208 torchbearers took part in the relay that was completed in about four hours. The city is the last leg of the relay in Hebei Province following Shijiazhuang and Qinhuangdao.

Tianjin will host the next leg of the Torch Relay on Friday.

Tangshan, situated at the center of the triangle formed by Beijing, Tianjin and Qinhuangdao, has completely recovered from the nightmare of the 1976 earthquake, which took 240,000 human lives overnight, after decades of efforts.
