Only seven athletes in five sports will represent Paraguay at the Beijing Olympic Games and all of them were invited since they did not reach the minimum marks required for the competition.
Paraguay sent 23 athletes to the Athens 2004 when it won its first medal in history, a silver medal in soccer after losing 1-0 to Argentina in the final.
President of the Paraguayan Olympic Committe (COP) Ramon Zubizarreta unveiled Wednesday the seven athletes invited to Beijing.
They are Victor Fatecha and Leryn Franco (javelin), Genaro Prono and Maria Baez (swimming), Marcelo Aguirre (table tennis), Patricia Wilka (archery) and Florencia Cerruti (yachting).
Fatecha, the flag bearer of the delegation will travel to Beijing on August 4 and will compete on August 17.
