Shanghai has established 115 medical emergency and anti-terrorist teams to ensure the smooth running of football matches at the Olympics, the city's Health Bureau has said.
The local health authority said ambulances, medical equipment, medicine and blood storage had all been prepared. All staff serving in the medical teams are from city and district hospitals.
The Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau has already carried out inspections on vehicle exhaust emissions around the area hosting the matches and adjacent places.
Shanghai Fire Control Bureau has issued a ban of transport and sales of explosive products and fireworks from this month to September 1 to ensure security during the Olympic Games.
Shanghai will host 12 Olympics football matches, eight men's games and four women's, from August 7 to 22.
Medical professionals and six ambulances will stand by at Shanghai Stadium, where the matches are being played, and at hotels serving athletes and Olympic officials.
Huashan Hospital is the city's only designated facility for the Olympics, with beds set aside for athletes injured during the matches. Extra night and emergency staff have been added.
Monitoring of infectious diseases will be tightened next month.
And smoking will be banned in Shanghai Stadium, hotels, restaurants at local key tourist spots and taxis.
"Environmental protection staff and traffic police started to check vehicle emissions in March. Whenever we find vehicles with excessive pollution, we withdraw the registration license and order owners to fix their vehicles and pass checks within two weeks," said Jiang Xiaofeng from Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau's pollution control sector. "So far, we have found some 1,000 polluting vehicles."
