Syria, Nepal, Brunei Offer Condolences, Contributions to Quake-hit China

Syria, Nepal and Brunei have offered condolences or contributions to China in continuation of the international sympathy after the May 12 earthquake in southwestern Sichuan province, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Naji Otri sent a message of condolence to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao over the deadly disaster, the ministry said in a news release.

The Nepalese government contributed 100,000 U.S. dollars to China, while the Brunei government offered 1.1 million dollars, according to the news release.
