An Indie Folk Rocker: B& B

(Since You Left Nanjing, Nobody's Talked to Me Any More.) Some people say they prefer a reckless and free life to one where they are loved by another, as love is like a lock, setting bounds to the two involved. Thinking this way, this sensitive musician left his beloved girlfriend behind, while always saying he could not follow her, and not even declare his love. To realize his dream of an unfettered life, he must leave all ties behind. But somehow his inner pain can still be heard through his words and melodies.
(Happiness as the background music) Li Zhi says that as a grown up, he always feels guilty for not being able to give back to his parents as much as he should. Persisting in his pursuit of the dream of music, he's the kind of person who would give up all plans of becoming business oriented, and go back to his familiar world with instruments all around and friends singing along.
Now do you still remember Li Zhi's nickname - B&B, or simply BB. Of course this slightly rebellious figure isn't referring to himself as a Baby. As a matter of fact, the two initials stand for two colors, Black and Blue. Black suggests graveness, while Blue is the color of romance and melancholy. I personally believe that a pessimistic person can hold an even stronger passion towards beauty in life. As the name of the next song suggests, the red color of a flying balloon seizes the acute interest of the folk rocker Li Zhi.
Well, before saying goodbye, I'd like to remind you that you can contact us by sending your emails to Chinabeat@crifm.com. Or you can mail your letters to English Service, China Radio International, Beijing, China, postal code 100040. We hope you'll also log on to our website at www.crienglish.com, where you can find more information about this week's featured musician, Li Zhi, and can also listen to past editions online.
This last song's name is the Red Balloon. What do you think is likely to be inside this ascending red balloon? Think awhile about your own answer while I tell you what Li Zhi thinks about - that is, his desire to sing.
I'm your host... Thank you for being with us again, and see you next time!
