On next week's/On this week's China Horizons, we travel to the country's far west, to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, for the opportunity to experience this epic piece of traditional music as well as to meet a professor who has devoted his life to this distinct and ancient art form. For all this, join us on China Horizons next Wednesday! /Tomorrow/ At the late half hour Promo: Research indicates that one in three Chinese women may be the victim of domestic violence. However only a small proportion of these women ever seek legal assistance. As this issue is increasingly brought to the public's notice, various parts of society are extending their hand to the victims.
On next week's/this week's Life in China, we speak to an expert on domestic violence from the Beijing Maple Women's Psychological Counseling Centre who will provide us with her insight on why it occurs and what victims can do about it. For this and more, join us on Life in China next Friday/ tomorrow/ at the late half hour! Next week on Voices from Other Lands, IĄŻll be speaking with Joakim Karlsson, manager of the Nordic Vikings Ice Hockey Team here in China. The team recently joined the Asian Ice Hockey League for the 2005 to 2006 season, with players from Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, and China. And this weekend, the Nordic Vikings are gearing up to play against the Japanese Cranes in Beijing. Please join me, Su Xiaowei, next week when IĄŻll be speaking with Joakim Karlsson on Voices from Other Lands.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM |
 |
|
| Listeners'
Garden is a new, expanded version of the previous
Listener's Letterbox. Broadcast on our home page
at "Online Radio" every Saturday (Beijing
time), it is a program for the weekend - relaxed,
with a bit of humor, and also, we hope, informative,
as we answer listener's questions about China, teach
them some Chinese, and much, much more. The weekly
Chinese idiom and the story behind it offer insights
into Chinese culture, history and humor. On Culture
Vulture Time, guests discuss anything that relates
to culture. And, of course, we must have a music
break, during which we try to play things that are
rarely heard on other programs (we also welcome
listeners' requests.) |
