China says it will develop the island province of Hainan into a new free trade zone and a free trade port. Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the move on Friday in Haikou, the capital of the Province. The president made the remark at a meeting commemorating the 30th anniversary of Hainan Province.Xi Jinping has also urged special economic zones to continue as important experimental platforms for reform and opening-up. The Chinese president says the special economic zones should stay true to their mission and make a good use of the new strategic position, adding that they should continue as pioneers of reform and opening-up and places where things get done.
