BeiDou Navigation Satellite System is a project spearheaded by China to develop an independent satellite navigation system. Navigation products based on China's own Beidou can be seen at the conference.
China Space Star Technology is a company that engages in various satellite application products and solutions. Song Haifeng, vice general manager of Space Star Technology says that, besides competitive accuracy to the GPS system, the Beidou system has its own advantages.
"Besides the same accuracy in navigation and positions in the Asia Pacific region, China's Beidou II system has a short message communication function, which GPS doesn't have. This may provide great convenience in special circumstances. However, due to the current small production volume, there is still a difference between our products and GPS products in terms of size, power consumption, and price. With the rise in production volume, our products may have more market competitiveness in the area."
The China Satellite Conference 2011 ended on October 28th.
