Hello, and welcome to this edition of "Life in China," a weekly feature program presented by China Radio International. I'm your host, Ning Yan.
In an effort to promote sooner launch of weekend Cross-Straits charter flights and to take more tourists to Taiwan, the president of the Straits Exchange Foundation, Chiang Pin-kung, is now paying a historic visit to the Chinese mainland. So first in today's program, a photojournalist named Wang Jianhua will share with us the beautiful moments he enjoyed in his one-month tour there. After that, an American Family in Sichuan will tell us their experiences during and after the earthquake, and how they are working together with locals to rebuild their shared home. And finally, in our reading segment of the book He Zhenliang and China's Olympic Dream, our reporter Shan Shan will bring us stories about He Zhenliang's involvement in China's renowned Ping-Pong Diplomacy.
For all this and more, stay tuned to "Life in China!"
Photos Reveal the Untold Beauty of Taiwan
Traveling to Taiwan is no longer a dream for many mainland tourists. But most tourists are not able to see enough of the things they want because of time constraints and pre-arranged travel itineraries. In this sense, photojournalist Wang Jianhua from China's official Xinhua News Agency is a lucky man. He was able to spend one month on the island recording his impressions with his camera.
An American Family in China's Earthquake Disaster
An American family living in China's earthquake-hit city of Dujiangyan survived the disaster with the support of local people. In return, members of the family are trying to give something back to the community. In particular, the father, who teaches at a local school, is doing everything he can to help his students; trying to calm their minds and bring them out of the horror of this natural catastrophe.
Book Reading of Chapter Three: Ping-Pong Diplomacy
It's time again for the special series of excerpts from the book entitled He Zhenliang and China's Olympic Dream, featuring He Zhenliang, known as China's Mr. Olympics. The book is written by his wife Liang Lijuan, a renowned journalist. In this edition, we'll hear about He Zhenliang's involvement in China's Ping-Pong diplomacy in the 1970s and his efforts in restoring China's rightful place in the Asian Games Federation. Here is our reporter Shanshan.
Difficulties for China's sports were still ahead at international level. That's what we'll hear about in the next episode of our special series featuring the book, He Zhenliang and China's Olympic Dream. Be sure to join us next time.
