Pakistan has recommended India to de-activate its forward air bases and put ground forces to peace time locations, to resume friendly atmosphere between the two neighboring countries.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that if India considered these suggestions, it would prove helpful in diffusing the ongoing tense situation between the two countries.
"Pakistan wants to make two proposals. As for the first proposal, I think India has activated their forward air bases and I think if they are deactivated then it will bring a positive signal. Similarly, as far as their ground forces are concerned, if they are relocated to their peacetime positions then it will also send a positive signal and I understand this will lower tension in the region."
But Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said his country had not widened the diplomatic rift.
"We have not done anything which can escalate the tension between India and Pakistan. Because from day one, I have been saying that it is not an India-Pakistan issue. This is an attack perpetrated by elements emanating from the land of Pakistan and the Pakistan government should take action against it."
Pakistan-India tensions were heightened after the Indian side accused Pakistan-based militant groups of involvement in last month's Mumbai terror attacks, which killed more than 170 people.
