2008-12-08 Six Party Talks
    2008-12-08 10:38:19     CRIENGLISH.com

Another round of 6 Party Talks is set to take place here in Beijing. The main point to work through in this coming round surrounds sampling of materials from the Yongbyon reactor site in North Korea. The United States believed it had an agreement with North Korea on this issue. However, North Korea maintains that no agreement has been finalized. If and when this issue is sorted out, it will allow the 6-Party Talks to move forward. So what will this forthcoming round of discussions resolve? And what will China's role be in it all?

Ni hao, you're listening to  People In the Know, your window into the world around you, online at crienglish.com here on China Radio International. In this edition of the show we'll be discussing the 6-Party Talks. So let's get started.

(Music)

First we'll hear from an expert on the Korean Peninsula. Professor Yang Bojiang is the Director of the Division of Korean Peninsula Studies at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations.

(Dialogue with Yang)

And after a short break, we'll hear from an expert in American diplomacy.
